Jones directs the movie and stars as George Briggs, a rogue who is saved from being hanged by weary traveller Mary Bee Cuddy (Hilary Swank). George's price for being saved is helping Mary Bee transport three mentally ill young women from Nebraska to Iowa. Their journey sees them clash with Native Americans, thieves and other hostile travellers. The Homesman's all-star ensemble cast includes Meryl Streep, her daughter Grace Gummer, Hailee Steinfeld, James Spader and Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons.
