Snapchat to roll out self-destructing news bulletin service: report PanARMENIAN.Net -

Snapchat is reportedly in talks with media outlets to launch a news-based service.

Referred to as Snapchat Discovery, the service will deliver self-destructing news items and adverts to users, Digital Spy said citing Wall Street Journal.

The company is said to have held discussions with 12 content providers, including the Daily Mail newspaper, to supply bulletins for the platform.

The news is expected to take the form of ephemeral text articles as well as video reports, and the service could allegedly launch as soon as November.

Snapchat, which has more than 40 million members, rolled out its biggest update in May when video calls and instant messaging were introduced to the platform.

CEO Evan Spiegel is said to have been researching ways to monetise the app for some time, and Snapchat Discovery could be the answer he is seeking.
