1st look at Al Pacino in "Manglehorn" Venice Fest drama (video)

PanARMENIAN.Net - A new clip gives the first look into Al Pacino in "Manglehorn". The drama about aging, regret, giving up and letting go is one of the Oscar-winning actor's two movies that hit the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, August 30, the other one being "The Humbling", AceShowbiz said.

A.J. Manglehorn, an aging, ordinary guy in a small town nurses his sick cat, squeezes out a conversation with the local bank teller every Friday and eats at the same place every day. But there is more to Manglehorn than meets the eye: he's an ex-con who, 40 years ago, gave up the woman of his dreams for a big "job." He now obsesses daily over the choices he made. After a dramatic effort to start over, Manglehorn faces a terrifying moment and is unmasked as a guy with a very, very dark past.

"This is a man who has trouble letting go of something, basically, and it leads him to a very strange and closed life," Pacino said. "He finally learns he has to let that go."

The clip is a scene between Pacino and Holly Hunter who plays the sweet-natured bank teller on their first date. They share a bond over their sick pets and Manglehorn gets to meet her dog for the first time. Manglehorn displays himself as an awkward person by knocking off a pot plant and blurting out the first words that cross his mind.

Directed by David Gordon Green, "Manglehorn" has not been picked up for U.S. distribution.
