Willem Dafoe as cult helmer in

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Pasolini" debuts its first trailer ahead of its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The film reconstructs the last day in the life of an Italian famous filmmaker and poet Pier Paolo Pasolini who was murdered in 1975. Willem Dafoe plays the titular character, AceShowbiz reported.

Pasolini is known as the symbol of art that's fighting against the power. His writings are scandalous and his films are persecuted by the censors. The day of his death, he spends his last hours with his beloved mother and later with his dearest friends, until he finally goes out into the night in search of adventure. At dawn, he is found dead on a beach in Ostia on the outskirts of the city.

Directed by Abel Ferrara, the film is competing for the Golden Lion at the 71st Venice Film Festival which kicked off August 27 and will wrap up on September 6. It will next be screened in the Special Presentations section of the 39th annual Toronto International Film Festival which runs from 4 - 14 September.
