Acclaimed author Paul Theroux's “Elephanta Suite” gets film treatmentSeptember 22, 2014 - 12:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Brillstein Entertainment is partnering on a film adaptation of acclaimed author Paul Theroux's novella The Elephanta Suite. The story revolves around an American corporate executive who travels to India and has a life transforming experience when he strikes up a relationship with a mysterious, young woman, The Hollywood Reporter said. The story has been adapted for the big screen by Joseph Mathew who will also direct the project. Mathew's credits as a director include 2009 feature Bombay Summer and the 2006 documentary Crossing Arizona, which premiered at Sundance. It also won the One Future Prize at the Munich Film Festival. While a budget was not given, the project will be produced by Shhyam Singhania of Von Ryans Entertainment along with co-producer Sanjay Bhattacherjee. Brillstein executive Jai Khanna will also helm the project as a co-producer by helping to shepherd the various international cast, crew and production logistics, as well as begin to secure international sales. Principal photography is scheduled for early spring with casting currently underway. Theroux's earlier novels have also been turned into films such as 1979's Saint Jack - directed by Peter Bogdanovich - and 1986's The Mosquito Coast which starred Harrison Ford.
