Yahoo announces closure of Yahoo Directory, other servicesSeptember 29, 2014 - 13:25 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yahoo has announced that it will be closing down Yahoo Directory later this year, Digital Spy said. Yahoo's very first product, Directory served as a phone book for every website on the internet in the days before Google. The service will shut down on December 31, nearly 20 years after it first launched. In an online progress report, the company also confirmed plans to close down Yahoo Education and its Qwik app. Yahoo Education will be closed down on September 30, while Qwiki will close on November 1. In a bid to streamline its services, Yahoo has shut down more than 60 products in the last two years.
