"Star Trek 3" action sci-fi to partially film in Seoul, South KoreaOctober 4, 2014 - 14:16 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - There has been an agreement signed to have "Star Trek 3" filming partly in Seoul, South Korea. On his Facebook page, Seoul Mayor Park Won-Soon revealed that he traveled to Los Angeles to promote the city as shooting location and struck a deal with "Star Trek 3" producer Jeffrey Chernov, according to AceShowbiz. Seoul has been an attractive filming location for Hollywood movies with its offer of 25 percent cash rebate on production cost. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was partly shot there and the city was supportive enough to close streets and sometimes the entire district to accommodate the filming. "The filming of Marvel Studios' 'Avengers 2: Age of Ultron' in Seoul was already a success. Furthermore, the filming of American drama 'Sense8' directed by the great Wachowskis and featuring Korean actress Bae Doona has started at the Cheonggye Stream. In the future, too, I plan to make Seoul an attraction," Park wrote. Paramount Pictures has not given an official word on Park's claims about "Star Trek 3" but the film's director Roberto Orci confirmed it in a comment, saying that "the Mayor was a lovely man." The film is expected to start filming in six months with the plan to release it on theaters sometime in 2016. In other news, the film has recently nabbed an Oscar-winning cinematographer. "Life of Pi" cinematographer Claudio Miranda joins the crew as director of photography and will work alongside Orci on digital platform.
