David Gordon Green was initially attached to direct the pic, but he left. Sean Durkin ("Martha Marcy May Marlene") is now in negotiations to shepherd the project. The upcoming movie adaptation of the classic TV series is set up at Sony. Scott Rudin ("Captain Phillips", "The Grand Budapest Hotel") serves as a producer. Abi Morgan ("The Iron Lady") writes the script based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's books. The children's book is inspired by memories of the author's childhood during the late 19th century. It was translated into a TV series that aired on NBC from 1974 to 1983 with Melissa Gilbert playing Laura Ingalls. The iconic story also spawned TV movies, miniseries, and musical.
