“The Conjuring” hit horror sequel release date movedOctober 21, 2014 - 13:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The release date for horror sequel The Conjuring 2, originally slated for Oct. 23, 2015, has been moved, with New Line putting an untitled horror film its place, The Hollywood Reporter said. The first Conjuring film, directed by James Wan, hit theaters in July 2013 and has earned $318 million worldwide to date. It starred Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Wilson and Farmiga are expected to return for the sequel. A spinoff, Annabelle, was released in October. The film, centering on the doll from the original film, had a $37.1 million domestic debut. The Conjuring 2 is now slated for 2016. Sources say New Line would like Wan to return to direct the sequel. The release date push may be to accommodate the busy director's schedule as he's still working on Fast & Furious 7. The only other wide release set for Oct. 23, 2015, is musical film Jem and the Holograms, directed by Jon M. Chu.
