IFC Films acquires Richard Gere’s “Time Out of Mind”

PanARMENIAN.Net - IFC Films acquired the rights to “Time Out of Mind” starring Richard Gere and directed by Oren Moverman, TheWrap reported.

The haunting indie drama follows George (Gere), a man who is thrust onto New York City's gritty streets and seeks refuge at an intake center for homeless men at Bellevue and begins to repair the relationship with his estranged daughter. The film also stars Ben Vereen, Jena Malone, Kyra Sedgwick, Jeremy Strong, Michael Kenneth Williams, Yul Vazquez, Coleman Domingo, Geraldine Hughes, and Steve Buscemi.

“‘Time Out of Mind’ is for me 10 years in the making and is certainly one of my most personal films. I am thrilled to be working with IFC Films. Oren and I can think of no better partner than IFC to support and embrace our film,” said Gere, who produced and stars in the film.

The film had its world premiere last month at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, its U.S. premiere at the New York Film Festival, and IFC is planning a 2015 theatrical release.

Additional producers include Blackbird Films’ Lawrence Inglee, Caroline Kaplan, Edward Walson, Cold Iron Pictures’ Miranda Bailey and River Road Entertainment's Bill Pohlad, and it is executive produced by Mohammed Al Turki, Zak Tucker, Cold Iron Pictures’ Amanda Marshall and Eva Maria Daniels.

“Richard Gere gives a career-topping performance in this beautiful, moving and soulful film from Oren Moverman,” says Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films.

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions from Sundance Selects/IFC Films with WME Global, ICM Partners and Paradigm on behalf of the filmmakers.
