Amazon rolls out Chromecast rival Fire TV Stick October 28, 2014 - 13:29 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Amazon is launching its own HDMI media streaming dongle, the Fire TV Stick, according to Digital Spy. The device is released on November 19 in the U.S. initially, but will probably roll out globally at some point like previous Amazon's products. The Fire TV Stick costs $39 but is selling for $19 to Amazon Prime members who order the dongle in the next two days. Amazon's offering goes in direct competition with the Google Chromecast, including a similar choice of streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu Plus. There are also Amazon Instant Video, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube, A&E, PBS, Showtime and Vevo apps, as well as a choice of games. 8GB of internal storage is on board - four times the amount of the Chromecast - supported by 1GB of RAM, a dual-core processor and dual-band Wi-Fi. You can use a dedicated app to control the Fire TV Stick, which comes with voice control, or you can use the Amazon Fire TV Remote (sold separately at $29.99).
