Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry plan to meet Saturday, Nov 8, in Beijing, China, before the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday, according to RIA Novosti.

"A meeting between Lavrov and Kerry is planned on November 8 in Beijing on the sidelines of the APEC events," the source said.

Since the beginning of 2014, the Russian foreign minister and his U.S. counterpart have had more than 10 meetings, with the latest talks held in Paris on Oct 14.

Following the Paris meeting, Lavrov said that Russia and the United States could be more effective in their joint efforts on a number of global issues, including the fight against terrorism and the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. The minister also suggested that the West should use its influence the conflicting sides in Ukraine keep to the Minsk agreements reached on Sept 5.

According to Lavrov, Russia and the United States are working together on the crises in North Africa and the Middle East, as well as on the Iranian nuclear deal, Korea's denuclearization, and the agenda of the UN Security Council.

The APEC summit is being held in Beijing, China, from Nov 5 to 11. The forum of 21 Pacific Rim economies seeks to facilitate economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region.
