Lorde unveils “The Hunger Games” song

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lorde celebrated her 18th birthday by sharing the music video for "Yellow Flicker Beat". That's the original song she wrote and recorded for the highly-anticipated "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" soundtrack which she curated, according to AceShowbiz.

Directed by Emily Kai Bock, the dark clip opens with the New Zealand native sitting alone in a motel before she breaks into her signature dance moves as she stands in the middle of a highway and an airplane hangar. Elsewhere in the clip, she's also seen donning a formal outfit as she attends a party.

"This video is something I'm really proud of," she said in an accompanying note posted on her Tumblr. "When I was dreaming it up, I wasn't thinking too hard about story or a specific narrative, more a mood; a harsh, crackling heat. 'Yellow Flicker Beat' is about Katniss realizing that things have crossed a line, about being pushed to the edge and right over it."

"My character in this video, whether she's weaving her way through a decadent ballroom, hiding out in a grimy, neon-lit motel room (her hair ever-so-slightly disheveled), or waiting in the night for her bus to come dressed in her whitest clothes, is a shapeshifter, full of intensity and impulse, kind of like Katniss. Whether she's in a small space or a cavernous one, she's fiery," she added.

The "Mockingjay" soundtrack, which will also feature other contributions from The Chemical Brothers, CHVRCHES and even Kanye West, is slated for release on November 18. The film, meanwhile, is opening in U.S. theaters on November 21.
