Nexus 5 faster than Nexus 6, tests suggest

PanARMENIAN.Net - When buying the most up-to-date smartphone, you at least expect it to be faster than its predecessor. However, tests have found that the Nexus 6 is actually much slower than the previous Nexus 5 handset, Digital Spy said.

Despite featuring a powerful Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB RAM optimised specifically by Google for Android 5.0 Lollipop, users have noticed a slight lag.

Devices shipped with Android 5.0 come with encryption enabled, which AnandTech has discovered as the source of the problem.

After requesting a Nexus 6 with encryption disabled, testers found that random read performance was 62.9% less, random write performance was 50.5% less and sequential read performance was 80.7% less.

This results in the Nexus 6 feeling slower than its predecessor, which is not encrypted.
