John Legend, Common premiere “Glory” from “Selma” OST

PanARMENIAN.Net - John Legend teamed up with rapper Common for an original song set to be featured on the upcoming movie "Selma". Titled "Glory", the track has just been debuted online by the Grammy Award-winning singer via his SoundCloud page, AceShowbiz reported.

The gospel/soul tune opens with some lines sung by Legend. "One day when the glory comes/ It will be ours, it will be ours/ One day when the war is won/ We will be sure, we will be sure," he sings over the piano, before Common emerges and raps about justice and freedom.

He also makes references to the recent events in Ferguson and a historical event that happened to Rosa Parks in Selma, Alabama 50 years ago. "That's why Rosa sat on the bus/ That's why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up/ When it go down we woman and man up/ They say, 'Stay down,' and we stand up," he spits.

"Glory" also came on the heels of Eric Garner non-indictment. It is already expected to be nominated for an Oscar.

"Selma", meanwhile, centers on the Martin Luther King Jr.-led civil rights marches that went down in 1965. The film is opening in U.S. theaters on Christmas Day.
