Peter Jackson awarded with star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

PanARMENIAN.Net - Peter Jackson was awarded with the 2,538th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The movie director was supported by his wife Fran Walsh and "The Hobbit" stars like Andy Serkis, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Lee Pace and Richard Armitage at the unveiling which took place at the Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles Dec 8, AceShowbiz said.

Peter told the crowd during his acceptance speech, "This street here - the first time I ever saw it was when I was 12 years old in 1974 when my mum and dad brought me here on a trip. I had been making movies in New Zealand on my Super 8 camera for three or four years and I walked down the street and I looked at these stars and I never ever in my wildest dreams thought I'd be here today."

He added, "Lastly, my thanks got to the fans and the audiences for our films. Thank you for being the main reason that a 12 year old's dreams came true."

Before Peter's acceptance speech, Andy introduced the director to the audience in a moving speech. "You have brought much needed magic, mystery cinematic poetry, creative ambition and most of all joy to the film industry and to the world," he told Peter. "The passion that you had as a seven-year-old boy who cut up his mother's stole to make a stop motion puppet for the first of your remakes of 'King Kong' is still as infectious and still as irrepressible as ever."

Andy went on to praise Peter, "You really are genuinely one of the greatest filmmakers on the planet. Your extraordinary leadership, your forensic thinking, your attention to detail, pioneering, fearless risk taking and your work ethic are matched only by your sense of mischief and anarchy."

"You are a generous honest storyteller," he added, "Your generosity has always extended beyond just the making of your films and beyond your collaborators as evidenced by your single-handedly creating a culture where you involve your audience in every aspect of the film-making process, so we all feel a part of the family."

Peter's upcoming movie "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies", which is the third and final installment of "The Hobbit" trilogy, is scheduled to hit theaters in the U.S. on December 17.
