Young actresses vying for lead role in “Pirates of the Caribbean 5”

PanARMENIAN.Net - As studios wind down before the holidays, Disney is looking to lock up someone for the last major role in its next installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise starring Johnny Depp, Variety reports.

Sources tell Variety that Disney is looking to test a handful of actresses over the next week for the female lead of the action-adventure. Some of the actresses on the list include “Miss Potter’s” Lucy Boynton, “Endless Love’s” Gabriella Wilde, Jenna Thiam, “Maze Runner’s” Kaya Scodelario and Alexandra Dowling of “The Musketeers.”

Details on the role are vague other than she would likely be a love interest to Brenton Thwaites, who recently won the role of a British soldier who teams with Depp’s Jack Sparrow. The studio wanted to wait to make sure that role was sealed up before testing actresses, and now that Thwaites is on board, the studio will do chemistry tests with Thwaites and the actresses to see who best fits the role.

Javier Bardem is also on board to play the villain, with Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg directing. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.

Production begins in the first quarter of next year with plans to release the pic on July 7, 2017.
