Samsung to shut down ChatOn messenger serviceDecember 19, 2014 - 13:39 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung Electronics Co. will discontinue its messenger service ChatOn next year as it builds business capacity in other services, the company said Friday, Dec 19, according to Yonhap news agency. "Under changes in the services operation policy, ChatOn will be closed on Feb 1, 2015," the South Korean tech firm said. "The move came in line with efforts to meet the changing demands in the market and provide differentiated services to users, focusing on other areas such as health and mobile commerce," it said. Users will be able to store their chat records, photos and videos shared through the messenger before the suspension, it said. Launched in October 2011, ChatOn had been available in 200 countries in various mobile platforms, including Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows. The service, however, failed to garner a big market presence. Related links: Top stories Yerevan will host the 2024 edition of the World Congress On Information Technology (WCIT).
