Joseph Gordon-Levitt readies for death-defying stunt in "The Walk" pic

PanARMENIAN.Net - Joseph Gordon-Levitt is up for a death-defying stunt in a new image from "The Walk". Arriving online on Tuesday, December 23 via Entertainment Weekly, the actor who plays a French artist Philippe Petit can be seen balancing himself as he attempts to walk on a tightrope on World Trade Center, AceShowbiz said.

"The Walk", directed by Robert Zemeckis, focuses on Petit who put a cable between the two towers in 1974 and successfully crossed the skyscrapers 1,350 feet above Manhattan. "Re-creating the Twin Towers in a photo-real way - only movies can do that," the director told the news outlet. "The towers are definitely characters in the movie, and Philippe loved them and spoke to them as if they were partners, accomplices, as if they were living, breathing things."

It was also revealed that the star actually balanced himself 12-feet above the ground when filming. "We had to be able to get the cameras under it and over it. You usually only get to see a wire walker by looking up, but our camera is looking down, so everyone gets that magnificent sense of vertigo," the director shared.

A dizzying teaser trailer for the movie was revealed earlier this month. Also starring Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale and Charlotte Le Bon among others, the movie is set to hit U.S. theaters on October 2, 2015.
