Matt Damon’s “Bourne 5” release date moved

PanARMENIAN.Net - Jason Bourne fans will have to wait two weeks longer to see Matt Damon back to his ass-kicking ways as the amnesiac superspy, Variety reported.

Universal Pictures is shifting the debut of the still-untitled sequel from July 15 to July 29, 2016. The action-thriller will face off against the comedy “Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates” and will get a weeklong head start on the DC Comics adaptation “Suicide Squad” that is set to star Will Smith and Jared Leto.

In its former perch, the Bourne picture would have faced competition from “Ice Age 5,” although the pictures appeal to different demographics. It would also have contended with the second weekend of the third “Star Trek” film.

Not only is Damon returning to the franchise, but Universal has also lured back “Bourne Ultimatum” and “Bourne Supremacy” director Paul Greengrass to the fold. Their return to the Bourne pictures ended up taking up the release slot that had been reserved for a sequel to the Bourne spinoff film “The Bourne Legacy” that starred Jeremy Renner.
