Volkswagen says it sold over 10 million vehicles in 2014

PanARMENIAN.Net - Volkswagen says it sold more than 10 million vehicles last year for the first time as strong performances in China and western Europe pushed deliveries 4.2 percent higher, the Associated Press reports.

Volkswagen AG announced Sunday, Jan 11 night that it delivered 10.14 million cars and trucks in 2014, up from 9.73 million the previous year. In December, the company — whose brands include Audi, Skoda and Seat — sold 857,600 vehicles, a 2.7 percent increase compared with a year earlier.

Last year's deliveries in Volkswagen's home European market rose 5.1 percent to 3.95 million. That increase was powered by higher sales in western Europe; sales in central and eastern Europe edged up 0.4 percent as deliveries in Russia dropped 12.7 percent.

Volkswagen's sales in China rose 12.4 percent to 3.68 million.
