OSCE MG hopes Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs will meet soon

PanARMENIAN.Net - Violence at the contact line between the Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces may lead to de-escalation, a U.S. diplomat said, according to APA.

“Any military operation can stultify efforts to reach a peace agreement in the Karabakh conflict,” OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair James Warlick said.

“To hear the opinions of the sides, we regularly visit the region. However, no date for the nest trip has been determined yet,” he added.

The diplomat said that the co-chairs may meet with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan soon.

“We are hopeful that the ministers will meet and discuss the ways to move forward. We also hope that they will fulfill their commitments taken in October 2014 in Paris and will continue the dialogue. Settlement of this conflict is possible only if all sides demonstrate political will to work with each other,” he said.

Meanwhile, in accordance with the agreement reached with the NKR authorities, the OSCE Mission conducted planned monitoring of the line of contact in the Hadrut direction near Horadiz settlement.

From the positions of the NKR Defense Army, Field Assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Khristo Khristov (Bulgaria) and Jiri Aberle (Czech Republic) participated in the monitoring.

From the opposite side the monitoring was held by Field Assistant of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Yevgeny Sharov (Ukraine), as well as Personal Assistant to the Personal Representative of the CiO Simon Tiller (Great Britain) and staff member of the Office Peter Svedberg (Sweden).

Karabakh led the OSCE mission to its front-lines, however, due to the shot from the Azerbaijani side, the Field Assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, for safety reasons, found it expedient to halt the monitoring.
