Apple “working on smart stylus to sell alongside iPad Pro tablet”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple is allegedly working on a smart stylus to sell alongside its iPad Pro tablet, Digital Spy reports.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the number of stylus patents the Cupertino firm has filed of late is evidence that the accessory is in the works.

The industry expert says that the stylus is likely to be sold separately to the iPad Pro, but released alongside the tablet later this year, reports AppleInsider.

The iPad Pro is rumoured to be a larger version of Apple's flagship slate, measuring somewhere between 12.2 inches and 12.9 inches.

"Coupled with its unfavourable cost structure, high selling prices may turn consumers off if the 12.9-inch iPad is always bundled with [the stylus]," said Ming-Chi.

"We therefore expect the stylus to be an optional accessory before sufficient user feedback is received."

Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs was an opponent of styluses, but the company co-founder was also opposed to smartphones larger than 4-inches, a form factor the firm now favours.
