Apple starts rollout of Photos for OS X

PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple will today (February 6) roll out the developer build of Photos for OS X, the long-awaited successor to iPhoto and Aperture, Digital Spy reports.

The new service has a streamlined interface and design like the iOS Photos application, according to early impressions published by The Verge.

Photos for OS X is also tied closely with the cloud and Apple mobile devices, but does not include as broad a range of editing tools as Aperture.

After the desktop app has been distributed to developers, it is set to enter public beta followed by a full release before summer.

Although Photos for OS X is touted as a replacement for iPhoto and Aperture, users will be able to keep the original apps on their machine.

Photos for OS X will be available as a free update for OS X Yosemite.
