Apple developing electric car, report saysFebruary 14, 2015 - 17:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple has reportedly hired automotive tech and vehicle design experts to work on a secret research project, Digital Spy reveals. According to the Financial Times, the team have been working in a Silicon Valley research facility since late last year on what could be a car. It's claimed that managers who previously worked on the iPhone are heading up the lab, with the addition of the head of Mercedes-Benz's Silicon Valley research unit who has also allegedly been hired. The latest report follows recent claims from The Mac Observer co-founder Bryan Chaffin that there is evidence to suggest the iPhone maker could one day challenge Tesla in the electric car market. Apple has already poached a number of staff from Tesla, fuelling speculation of renewed interest in the electric car business. The Cupertino firm has already taken steps into the motor industry with the launch of services such as CarPlay, and has partnerships with numerous automakers.
