Vaio announces first post-Sony laptop computers

PanARMENIAN.Net - Vaio has announced its first post-Sony laptop computers in the form of the Vaio Z and the Vaio Z Canvas, Digital Spy reports.

Unveiled in Japan by platform holder Japan Industrial Partners, the new machines are hybrid devices that double as pseudo-tablets.

The Vaio Z is the company's flagship PC, coming with either an Intel i7 or i5 processor, a 13.3-inch display and an aluminium body.

The laptop is said to offer 15.5 hours of battery life, and packs an SSD that is capable of booting from standby in 0.3 seconds.

Launched as a less expensive alternative, the Vaio Z Canvas comes with a 12.3-inch screen, an i7 processor, a 256GB SSD, and up to 16GB of internal memory.

The Vaio Z sports a hinged back that enables it to take on the form of a tablet, while the Canvas can assume the same form factor thanks to its detachable keyboard.

Japan Industrial Partners has released laptops since acquiring the brand from Sony, but the Vaio Fit and Vaio Pro were devised before it changed hands.

The company is yet to confirm whether the Vaio Z and the Vaio Z Canvas will be available outside of Japan.
