Alejandro G. Inarritu’s "Birdman" wins big at Oscars

PanARMENIAN.Net - The 2015 Academy Awards already handed the last awards at the ceremony hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. At the Sunday, February 22 event at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, it was revealed that "Birdman" is among big winners after taking home four trophies including Best Picture and Best Director for Alejandro G. Inarritu, AceShowbiz reports.

At the ceremony, "Birdman" team which consists of Alejandro G. Inarritu, Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris Jr and Armando Bo also won in Best Original Screenplay category, while Graham Moore won Best Adapted Screenplay for Alan Turing biopic "The Imitation Game". Speaking onstage, Moore admitted to trying to commit suicide when he was a teenager.

Another big winner is "The Grand Budapest Hotel" which also took home four awards including Best Original Score for Alexandre Desplat. Another film which bagged multiple trophies is "Whiplash" with three.

Eddie Redmayne who won Best Actor trophy for his portrayal as Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" dedicated his win to people who suffer from ALS. "I am fully aware that I am a lucky, lucky man. This Oscar, wow! This belongs to all of those people around the world battling ALS," he said in his speech.

Julianne Moore, meanwhile, took home Best Actress trophy for her performance as a linguistics professor who suffers from Alzheimer's in "Still Alice". Moore, who was nominated five times, took the stage in a strapless white dress. "People with Alzheimer's deserve to be seen so that we can find a cure," she said in her speech.
