Disney’s “Big Hero 6” wins animated film Oscar

PanARMENIAN.Net - Disney’s “Big Hero 6” has won the animated film Oscar, culminating a race that gained an outsize amount of attention for the nominating committee’s exclusion of “The Lego Movie,” Variety reports.

“Big Hero 6” won over “How to Train Your Dragon 2,” “The Boxtrolls,” “Song of the Sea” and “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.”

The film was inspired by the Marvel Comics superhero team and was directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”). It tells the story of a robotics prodigy who forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain.

“Big Hero 6” has grossed over $540 million worldwide.

“How to Train Your Dragon 2” had been the frontrunner in the category.

Disney won the animation category last year with “Frozen” along with best song for “Let it Go.”
