Marisa Tomei to headline George Clooney-produced HBO miniseries

PanARMENIAN.Net - Marisa Tomei is tapped to headline a new HBO miniseries called "Ms." from producer George Clooney. The 50-year-old actress is set to play feminist leader Gloria Steinem in the series named after the magazine founded by Steinem and editor Letty Cottin Pogrebin in the 1970s.

The miniseries will take place in the years surrounding the first issue of Ms. magazine. Tomei will be joined by Kathy Najimy, 58, who is cast as Bella Abzug, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and one of Steinem's best friends. They serve as producers along with Clooney.

Steinem, who is now 80 years old, will become a consultant for the project. She was previously portrayed by Peggy Lipton in the NBC miniseries "The '70s", and by Kirstie Alley in the TV movie "A Bunny's Tale". Back in 2011, HBO aired a documentary about the famed feminist.
