Computer maker Lenovo hit by cyber attack

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lenovo has been hit by a cyber attack one week after the firm was caught up in an adware debacle, according to Digital Spy.

The breach on the Chinese computing company's official website resulted in traffic being redirected to another destination.

"One effect of this attack was to redirect traffic from the Lenovo website," the firm said in a statement. "We are also actively investigating other aspects.

"We are responding and have already restored certain functionality to our public-facing website."

Lizard Squad, the hacker group believed to be behind the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live breaches over Christmas, has claimed responsibility for the attack on Lenovo.

Last week, Lenovo was hit by backlash from disgruntled customers and warned by the US government after a programme pre-installed on its laptops called Superfish was found to hijack browsers and insert third-party ads into Google searches.

The issue has landed the company in court, under accusations of "fraudulent" business practices.
