Ethan Hawke joins Denzel Washington in “Magnificent Seven”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Nearly 15 years after they first worked together on “Training Day,” Ethan Hawke is nearing a deal to reteam with Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua on MGM’s “The Magnificent Seven,” TheWrap has learned.

Chris Pratt and Haley Bennett co-star in the film, which was written by “True Detective” creator Nic Pizzolatto and John Lee Hancock.

The remake follows seven elite gunmen who agree to protect a small Mexican town from a gang of outlaws.

Roger Birnbaum will produce “Magnificent Seven,” which was originally based on Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai.”

Hawke, who’s coming off an Oscar nomination for “Boyhood,” next stars in Andrew Niccol’s drone drama “Good Kill,” Alejandro Amenabar’s thriller “Regression” and Blumhouse’s “In a Valley of Violence.”

Released in 2001, Fuqua’s “Training Day” earned more than $100 million worldwide and earned Denzel Washington an Oscar.

Variety broke the news of Hawke’s casting.
