Windows 10 will run on wearable devices

PanARMENIAN.Net - Microsoft has confirmed that we could one day see wearable devices running Windows 10, Digital Spy reports.

Windows Phone director Greg Sullivan said that the operating system is capable of scaling down to function on the smallest displays.

"This notion that Windows 10 scales down to wearables is absolutely true," he told Digital Spy at the Mobile World Congress.

"We have designed the operating system to scale across the broadest range of platforms, including Internet of Things, wearables, all the way up to very large displays.

"The software scales from the very smallest devices, all the way up to the largest super computers in the world."

Smartwatches are gaining traction, and while there are none with native Windows Phone compatibility at present, the launch of Windows 10 could change that.

"One of the benefits of us aggregating our platform is that it becomes more attractive to developers of peripherals and third-party devices," Sullivan added.

"That is an added benefit that we get from our strategy with Windows 10, and our hope is that there will be more of that.

"Our own platforms, such as Microsoft Health, are designed to inherently support third parties as well."

The consumer version of Windows 10 will be released for smartphones, tablets, PCs and more later this year.
