Ian McKellen as retired Sherlock Holmes in “Mr. Holmes” trailer

PanARMENIAN.Net - Ian McKellen can add another iconic literary character to his resume when “Mr. Holmes” hits theaters later this year, TheWrap reports.

The “Hobbit” star plays a retired Sherlock Holmes in the drama from “Dreamgirls” director Bill Condon, and the first trailer teases one last mystery for the famous sleuth.

It appears that Holmes will team up with a young boy to investigate a 50-year-old cold case involving a beautiful woman from his past.

Laura Linney co-stars in the project written by Jeffrey Hatcher, based on Mitch Cullin’s novel “A Slight Trick of the Mind.”

No U.S. release date has been announced yet for the production being distributed by Roadside Attractions and Miramax.
