Garrett Hedlund in talks to join Ang Lee's Iraq war drama

PanARMENIAN.Net - Garrett Hedlund is in talks to star in new movie "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk". Should a deal be reached between him and TriStar, he will get into the shoes of the leader of the Bravo Company squad named Sgt. Dime, AceShowbiz reports.

An adaptation of Ben Fountain novel, "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" will tell the story of a "19-year-old private Billy Lynn and his company, who survive a harrowing battle that's captured by news cameras. They are brought home by the U.S. administration for a promotional tour, culminating at the halftime show of a Thanksgiving Day football game - while facing an imminent return to the war." Ang Lee is on board directing the upcoming Iraq war drama.

The film director, as reported by Deadline, has tapped newcomer Joe Alwyn for the title role. Actor Steve Martin reportedly was in talks to star too, but he might not be able to accept the offer due to scheduling conflicts.

Garret Hedlund was last seen starring in the Angelina Jolie-directed film "Unbroken". His other features included "Country Strong", "Tron Legacy", "Inside Llewyn Davis", and "On the Road".
