1st look at Matthew McConaughey in "Free State of Jones"March 11, 2015 - 09:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - STX Entertainment announced on Monday, March 9 that shooting on its upcoming film "Free State of Jones" had been kicked off in New Orleans, Lousiana, and in the wake of the announcement, first photo of its leading actor Matthew McConaughey in character has surfaced. The shot shows the hunk in the battle while wearing his civil war soldier ensemble, AceShowbiz reports. "Free State of Jones" centers its story on McConaughey's character Newton Knight, "a soldier for the Confederacy during the Civil War who becomes disillusioned with the South's cause, flees the battlefield and defiantly declares a safe haven in Jones County, Mississippi." Also joining the cast ensemble among others are Keri Russell, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Mahershala Ali. The Civil War action-drama is directed by Gary Ross, with Scott Stuber, Jon Kilik, and Ross himself on board producing. The flick will be released in U.S. theaters on March 11 next year.
