YouTube embracing virtual reality with 360-degree vidsMarch 13, 2015 - 18:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - YouTube is reportedly trialling the introduction of 360-degree video clips that offer an immersive viewing experience, Digital Spy reports. The footage will be optimised for virtual-reality headsets, allowing users to look up and down and even behind them, according to Adage. Platform holder Google will apparently keep all 360-degree footage in private for the time being but is said to be adding the clips in "the next few days". Advertisers and brands are expected to be among the first to adopt the technology. YouTube's 360-degree-optimsied videos will reportedly be viewable on mobile devices and PCs, with uses able to look around via their mouse or touchscreen. Google is allegedly investing in special camera technology to support the creation of 360-degree video content.
