Amazon granted clearance to test delivery dronesMarch 21, 2015 - 10:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Amazon has been granted clearance to test its delivery drones in the US, Digital Spy reports. The US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) has relaxed its ban on the micro-aircraft, but imposed restrictions on the internet retailer's trials. The tests were permitted on the grounds that Amazon flies its drones during daylight hours at 400 feet or below, and keeps them within sight of a pilot. Amazon's Prime Air drones are a fleet of octocopters designed to carry packages weighing up to 20kg to customers in record time. The company previously declared that it was prepared to take the service abroad for testing if the FAA refused to permit its domestic trials. The FAA is expected to lay down revised legislation governing the use of drones for commercial purposes in the near future.
