PanARMENIAN.Net - Already developing live-action versions of their hit cartoons "Cinderella" and "Beauty and the Beast (2017)", Disney is going ahead with another live-action of "Mulan". The film company bought a script written by Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek that centers on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, AceShowbiz reports.

The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news. No other details were made available by the time of writing, except that Chris Bender and J.C. Spink have been attached to produce the upcoming live-action retelling.

The original animated flick "Mulan", released in 1998, told the story of "a young woman who disguises herself as a man so she can take her father's place in the army and go to war. With the help of her trusty dragon sidekick Mushu, she becomes a skilled warrior and, eventually, one of the country's greatest heroines." The Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook-directed film earned Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations in addition to spawning a direct-to-DVD sequel, titled "Mulan II".
