Mark Strong named best actor at 2015 Olivier Awards

PanARMENIAN.Net - Following his lauded performance in the film "Kingsman: The Secret Service", Mark Strong was awarded the Best Actor at the 2015 Olivier Awards with MasterCard on April 12. It was his performance in "A View From the Bridge" at Young Vic & Wyndham's Theater which helped him earn the award. When giving acceptance speech, Strong said, "I really wasn't expecting this. I'm in such a strong category with such incredible actors," AceShowbiz reports.

Meanwhile, the Kinks musical "Sunny Afternoon" won the most prizes. It took four prizes including Best New Musical, Best Actor in Musical for John Dagleish and Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Musical for George Maguire. The Kinks' frontman Ray Davies won the outstanding achievement in music prize for the play's score.

Also receiving an award, Penelope Wilton won the best actress crown for "Taken at Midnight". Katie Brayben won Best Actress in a Musical for "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" while her co-star Lorna Want won the Best Supporting Actress in a Musical category.

Kevin Spacey was another winner at the ceremony. He didn't win the best actor like he once won at the Olivier Awards in 1999, but he was awarded with a special award for his outstanding contribution to the Old Vic theater, where he has been artistic director since 2004.
