Fox Searchlight nears deal for Paolo Sorrentino’s “Youth”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Fox Searchlight is near a deal for North American rights to Paolo Sorrentino’s “Youth”, which is in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, Variety reports.

Michael Caine stars as a retired orchestra conductor vacationing in an Alpine resort when he receives an invitation to perform for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Paul Dano portrays a film director also staying at the resort. Harvey Keitel, Rachel Weisz, Jane Fonda and Romanian model Madalina Ghenea also star.

“Youth” is Sorrentino’s sixth film in the Cannes competition, after “The Consequences of Love” (2004), “The Family Friend” (2006), the jury prize-winning “Il Divo” (2008), “This Must Be the Place” (2011) and “The Great Beauty” (2013), which went on to win the Oscar for best foreign language film.

Producers on “Youth” are Carlotta Carlori, Francesca Cima and Nicola Giuliana. Pathe is handling sales.
