“Saw II” helmer to direct “The Dwelling” high-concept horror-thriller

PanARMENIAN.Net - Darren Lynn Bousman (who directed “Saw II,” “Saw III” and “Saw IV”) is set to write and direct “The Dwelling”, the sequel to Bousman’s “Abattoir,” a high-concept horror-thriller based on the Radical Publishing comic book miniseries, Variety reports.

The sequel will be repped in international markets by Paris-based Versatile, which is already selling “Abattoir.”

“The Dwelling” will be produced by Jesse Berger of Radical Studios, and Brent C. Johnson, who partnered on “Abattoir.” Kevin Niu, Rob Cain and Michael Yedwab will exec produce.

In “The Dwelling,” Dayton Callie will reprise his “Abbatoir” role of Jebediah Crone, the enigmatic and evil man who buys homes where horrific tragedies have occurred. “The Dwelling” will take place some time before the franchise’s first film and will center on Crone’s character, unveiling some of his dark secrets and motivations.

“What is most exhilarating as a filmmaker about the universe of ‘Abattoir’ is that it is steeped in a captivating mythology with our villain as the central character. This allows us so many different ways to tell stories in this world, each with its own unique point of view,” said Bousman.

Currently in post-production, “Abattoir” also stars Jessica Lowndes, Joe Anderson and Lin Shaye.

Versatile’s Pape Boye and Violaine Pichon are introducing “The Dwelling” at Cannes and unveiling a 10-minute promo of “Abattoir” on Friday, May 15.

Radical Studios most recently co-created and co-produced the Tom Cruise sci-fi film, “Oblivion,” which grossed more than $290 million at the global box office, and Brett Ratner’s “Hercules,” which grossed over $240 million worldwide.
