Mass Effect creator to oversee HoloLens, Xbox projects

PanARMENIAN.Net - Casey Hudson - the project director of the Mass Effect franchise - has been named a creative director of Microsoft Studios, Digital Spy reports.

The role will have him overseeing new projects on HoloLens, as well as steering the vision on a number of first-party Xbox titles.

"I am extremely passionate about the potential of [HoloLens], as anyone who's talked with me over the last couple of years can attest," he said in an Xbox Wire post.

"It's an honour to be able to join such an incredibly talented team, and to work on something that will fundamentally advance the role computers play in our daily lives.

"I will also be working with innovative new Xbox titles, helping them to find success through clear direction and creative vision. I will be involved in driving a creative focus for Xbox and Windows gaming, and I couldn't be more excited to be involved in that.

"The projects I've seen in development so far are amazing, and it's going to be an awesome experience helping these teams cross the finish line."

He will report directly to corporate vice president of next gen experiences Kudo Tsunoda, who was previously heavily involved in Kinect.

Casey was previously at EA and BioWare for 16 years, working on Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, before departing last year to "take on a new set of challenges".

HoloLens is an upcoming venture from Microsoft that works with a platform called Windows Holographic to project holographic overlays into the user's field of vision.

Microsoft recently suggested that HoloLens might have been one of the main reasons it bought Minecraft and its developer Mojang.
