Apple uses Siri to fix iPhone text bugMay 30, 2015 - 13:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple is working on a permanent solution to the text message bug that is causing iPhones to crash, but Siri is on hand to offer a temporary fix, Digital Spy reports. The Cupertino firm has detailed in a support post how the virtual assistant can be used to swerve this problem until an official software update comes along. Users are advised to ask Siri to "read unread messages" and use the personal assistant to reply to the malicious text with anything they want. The Messages app will then be accessible, allowing users to open it up and delete the troublesome text manually. This should prevent your iPhone from crashing and rebooting, though it will have to be a case of rinse and repeat if some prankster sends you the text again. The glitch, which came to light earlier this week, is the result of the iOS operating system's inability to correctly render Arabic text, but the software will only crash if a specific string of characters is sent. Since Apple has now officially acknowledged the issue, a permanent solution shouldn't be too far away.
