"Lumberjanes" hit comic series get film treatment at 20th Century Fox

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Lumberjanes" is getting a movie treatment. 20th Century Fox is working on a live-action adaptation of the female-centric comic book series about five young female friends who battle supernatural forces at summer camp, AceShowbiz reports.

Described as a fun mix of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" meets "Gravity Falls", the comic book is created by three women; Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, and Noelle Stevenson and is drawn by female illustrator Brooke A. Allen. It was originally planned as a limited eight-part series but went on to become an ongoing series after strong sales and critical acclaim including Best New Series nomination at Eisner Awards.

According to TheWrap, Black List scribe Will Widger ("The Munchkin") is tapped to write the script. Ross Richie and Stephen Christy from the comic books' publisher, BOOM! Studios, serve as producers. Fox is reportedly looking for a female director to helm the project.
