EE reveals world's 1st 4G action camera to go up against GoPro

PanARMENIAN.Net - EE has revealed a 4G action camera to go up against GoPro as part of an ambitious connected strategy that takes the mobile network away from smartphones and tablets, Digital Spy reports.

The simple, rugged, waterproof "4Gee Action Camera" is a world first for standalone connected cameras, letting you pop in a SIM card and stream live and instantly over EE's 4G network in 720p HD with a single button on the side of the camera. You can also grab images at 13 megapixels and video in 1080p, too, with a 60 frames per second option to boot.

GoPro does not yet offer live streaming out of the box, although there are accessories available if you so wish.

EE's camera, which is available to pre-order today but will be in our hands from June 16, has 2.5GB on-board storage (expandable to 64GB with microSD card) and a three-hour battery, streaming directly to EE's own Periscope-alike app, Skeegle. There's also an included wearable accessory – you'd be pushed to call it a smartwatch – to put your viewfinder on your wrist.

The 4Gee Action Camera is so similar in design to a GoPro that it will work with the plethora of harnesses and accessories already available for the market leader.

Stocked in Carphone Warehouse, Selfridges, Amazon, Jessops and, of course, EE shops, the new camera can play nice with shared, pay as you go or contract plans, and even access roaming data, although a careful analysis of offers is recommended.
