Apple Maps adding live public transit data for major citiesJune 9, 2015 - 18:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple Maps is gaining some ground on its Google counterpart with the introduction of live transit data, Digital Spy reports. The feature will be supported in several major metropolitan cities around the world when iOS 9 launches in the autumn. Launch cities include Baltimore, Berlin, Chicago, London, Mexico City, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington, as well as several locations in China. Apple software chief Craig Federighi said that the service will deliver real-time information about nearby bus, ferry, subway and train terminals. Google Maps first added this feature around five years ago, and the Android firm boasted ahead of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference that it now covers 18,000 cities.
