“The Equalizer” Denzel Washington thriller sequel gets release date

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sony has set a Sept. 29, 2017, release date for its sequel to the Denzel Washington thriller “The Equalizer” — three years after the original opened, Variety reports.

The studio had officially announced the second installment in April during its CinemaCon presentation. The R-rated auctioneer generated solid results with $192 million.

Washington is expected to reprise his role as vigilante Robert McCall in “Equalizer 2.” Chloe Grace Moretz and Marton Csokas co-starred in the original, based on the 1980s TV series of the same name.

Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”) directed the first “Equalizer.” It was produced by Escape Artists, co-financed by Village Roadshow and debuted at the Toronto Film Festival.

“The Equalizer 2″ is the first film dated for Sept. 29, 2017.
