Ridley Scott’s The Martian

PanARMENIAN.Net - After debuting the first trailer for its science-fiction movie, "The Martian", which garnered positive responses, 20th Century Fox has decided to move up the film release date from November 25 to October 2, AceShowbiz reports citing Deadline. On the new date, "The Martian" will now be up against "London Has Fallen" and "Adam Jones" as well as "The Walk".

The studio switches the release date of "The Martian" with "Victor Frankenstein" which stars James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe. While "The Martian" is moving out of Thanksgiving, "Victor Frankenstein" is stepping into the Thanksgiving date. "Victor Frankesntein" which was initially set to hit theaters on October 2 is pushed back to November 25. That film will compete with "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2", which will kick off five days earlier, and Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur".

"The Martian" is based on a best-selling novel by Andy Weir which follows a lone man who must figure out how to survive long enough on Mars to return to Earth. The movie also stars Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kristen Wiig. It is directed by Ridley Scott while the script is written by Drew Goddard. Scott also produces the movie alongside Simon Kinberg and Aditya Sood.
