Muse scores 1st No. 1 album on Billboard 200 with “Drones”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Muse's "Drones" has officially landed atop Billboard 200. The record, which was released on June 8 via Helium-3/Warner Bros. Records, becomes the first No. 1 for the British rock band formed more than 20 years ago, AceShowbiz reports.

According to Nielsen Music, the album starts with 84,000 equivalent album units, 79,000 of which are traditional album sales. Matthew Bellamy and Co. last visited the chart with their 2012 effort, "The 2nd Law", which debuted and peaked at No. 2.

Next on this week's Billboard 200, Taylor Swift's "1989" stays at No. 2 with 64,000. Trailing behind is Icelandic rock band Of Monsters and Men who logs their highest charting album and biggest sales week as their "Beneath the Skin" arrives with 61,000 units.

Last week's No. 1 Florence and the Machine's "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful" drops to No. 4 with 37,000. Closing out the top 5 is the reissue of The Rolling Stones' 1971 chart-topper "Sticky Fingers" that opens with 36,000.

Ed Sheeran becomes the next European act in the top 10. The British redhead's "X" slips one rung to No. 6 with 34,000. At No. 7, Sam Hunt's "Montevallo" jumps from last week's No. 13 with 31,000, thanks in large part to the CMT Awards where he performed "House Party" in addition to winning the Breakthrough Video of the Year Award for "Leave the Night on".

The last spots in the top 10 belong to A$AP Rocky whose "At.Long.Last.A$AP" plunges from No. 3 to No. 8 with just over 29,000, Maroon 5's "V" which sits at No. 9 with 29,000 and Meghan Trainor's "Title" that falls to No. 10 with 27,000 units.
