Another rural water supply project implemented in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - VivaCell-MTS jointly with the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) marked the completion of another project of the water supply improvement initiative, jointly implemented in rural communities of Armenia.

The water supply network project in Chkalov village included the construction of 22km-long pipeline.

VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, FPWC Founder Ruben Khachatryan, as well as Silva Movsisyan, the director of the U.S.-based Noyark foundation for the development of Chkalov village, Lori province Governor Artur Nalbandyan, Chkalov village administrator Roman Shakaryan and community members attended the event dedicated to the completion of the project.

The absence of potable water supply network has always been one of the most urgent issues of Chkalov community. The villagers used to fetch water from the only spring situated in the center of the village, which had already become scarce. For years, the project of constructing a water supply network could not be implemented because of the scarcity of community budget.

Propelling personal volunteering initiatives, VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian has donated AMD 13,400,000 from the personal funds for the solution of the issue.

VivaCell-MTS and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) have allocated around AMD 11,000,000, and around AMD 13,700,000 have been provided by the Noyark foundation. The Chkalov community, particularly the younger generation, has actively participated in the construction works.

74 households will benefit from the project.
